Introduction: The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between the coping strategies and psychological well-being in volunteers who assist oncological patients. Method: The Coping Estimation (COPE) questionnaire adapted by Crespo and Cruzado (1997) and the Psychological Well-being Scale (SPWB) adapted by Van Dierendonck (2004). The sample was conformed by 156 volunteers in Lima Metropolitana, from which 24% were male and 76%, female, the ages of the volunteers are on the range of 18 to 59 years old. The type of investigation was basic, with a correlational design. Results: The results identify significant relations between “pshycological well-being” and “active front-facing” (Rho= .20, p< .01). As well, inverse and weakly significant correlations between the variables of “psychological well-being” and “misunderstanding and negation” (Rho= -.16*, p<.05) and “use of substances” (Rho= -.23*, p<.05). Conclusion: The results of the investigation reflect a relevant relationship between the variables on subject, which contributes on the knowledge of physiological well-being on volunteers who work with oncological patients and could guide to psychological intervention by promoting the most suitable coping strategies.
