Introduction: Fracture-related infection (FRI) is a major complication of fractures that requires prolonged antibiotic treatment. Thus, it is essential to identify the causative pathogen and its resistance pattern. Objective: To determinate the main bacteria isolated from FRI cultures from the Traumatology and Orthopedics Service of HNCH during 2022 and 2023. Materials and Methods: Retrospective descriptive observational study. Results: The most common bacteria were Escherichia coli (22.9%), Staphylococcus aureus (18.8%), Enterobacter cloacae (14.6%), and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (12.5%). Enterobacteriaceae showed high resistance rates to ceftriaxone and ciprofloxacin. 55% of S. aureus isolates were methicillin-resistant (MRSA). 50% of isolates of P. aeruginosa were resistant to cefepime, 33.3% to ceftazidime, 33% to ciprofloxacin and levofloxacin, and 16.6% to meropenem and imipenem. Conclusions: The most frequent bacterial group was Enterobacteriaceae, mainly E. coli which showed high resistance rates to third-generation cephalosporins and quinolones; the second most common bacteria were S. aureus, principally MRSA.
