Background: The level of knowledge of risk factors and cardiovascular diseases in the Peruvian population is poorly documented, which is important for improving or implementing primary prevention measures. Objective: To determine the level of knowledge and perception of risk factors and cardiovascular disease in a level III-1 hospital in Lima, Perú. Methods and Materials: Observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study. The study population were patients who attended the Cayetano Heredia National Hospital during 2024. Data was collected through a physical survey. Based on the score, knowledge was classified as either adequate or inadequate. Results: A total of 400 participants were included, 70.3% were female. The median age was 55 years, with an interquartile range of 43 to 64 years. A total of 78.1% of participants had an inadequate level of knowledge, a trend observed among all evaluated groups, regardless of age, sex, or educational level. Conclusion: The level of knowledge of risk factors and cardiovascular disease was inadequate among the surveyed patients at the Hospital Nacional Cayetano Heredia.
