Background. It is postulated that one of the existing organizational barriers is the cumbersome process that leads to long queues to access care. If an integrated articulating system were available, tedious procedures could be optimized and thus increase the number of visits per unit of time. It is possible to postulate that the use of an integrated computer system including electronic medical records in outpatient care in a private health service provider institution (IPRESSp) increases the number of visits. Objective To determine the relationship between outpatient care coverage and the implementation of an integrated health computer system including electronic medical records in an IPRESSp Material and methods. Data are obtained from an IPRESSp and the use of an integrated computer system that includes electronic medical records is used as an intervention factor. A cohort study is carried out in which the difference in the number of visits and patients by period is analyzed. The period to be analyzed is from April 2012 to March 2020. Results. There are significant differences between the pre- and post-intervention care processes. The increase in post-intervention care was 43.53% for care (p < 0.00001) and 36.72% for patients (p < 0.00001), during the study period. Conclusions: The use of an integrated computer system that includes electronic medical records allows for an increase in the number of patients and care in the IPRESSp by optimizing the care processes that were carried out after the intervention, before and after medical care, improving access to outpatient care.
