In Peru, passing the psychosomatic aptitude medical exam is a prerequisite for applying for a driver's license. For this reason, many drivers go to medical centers authorized by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications. The violation of traffic regulations has gained relevance as one of the main factors that cause road accidents, resulting in injuries of varying severity and even loss of life. The occurrence of traffic violations is affected by the demographic characteristics of drivers. Therefore, the objective of this professional proficiency work was to study the relationship between the demographic characteristics of Class A driver's license applicants and their driving performance in terms of number and degree of their violations. Demographic data were collected from 153 clinical records of drivers applying for a Class A license, evaluated at the authorized Víctor Manuel SAC center. In the period from August to December 2023, in addition, the number and degree of violations were extracted from the Single Driver Portal. The results revealed that driving performance through traffic violations was associated with the educational level of the applicant drivers, observing a higher frequency of violations in the group with a low educational level. It is expected that this finding will be of benefit to government entities in charge of ensuring road safety, in order to promote policies that strengthen compliance with road regulations and, consequently, reduce the incidence of traffic accidents.
