Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis (Bd) is the fungus responsible for the disease known as chytridiomycosis. Currently, the disease is distributed worldwide, affecting various wild populations of amphibians. In the department of Junín, Peru, there are two species of frogs of the genus Telmatobius: T. macrostomus and T. brachydactylus. These two species are threatened and in recent years there has been a notable decline in population. The main threats are anthropogenic: overexploitation of the species for human consumption, introduction of rainbow trout, loss of habitat, pollution, livestock activities, etc. This study has worked with skin swab samples from both frog species and real-time PCR to detect Bd. In this way, it will be possible to evaluate which of the two species is most affected, establish in which areas of the Junín National Reserve infected frogs exist and also determine if there is an association between the risk factors in each sampling area and the positive cases. From the 161 samples collected, 35.4% (57) were positive for Bd. In the species T. macrostomus 38.39% (43) were positive and in T. brachydactylus 28.57% (14) were positive. This confirms that the fungus is found in the Junín National Reserve and that both species have been infected.
