The following research was to obtain saponin from corm of Gladiolus communis Linneaus by organic solvents such as ethyl acetate, ethanol and butanol at different stages. The variables were controlled speed magnetic stirring and concentration of ethanol solvent; these were developed in a factorial design of 16 treatments in total, with the results evaluated qualitatively using the reagent Liebermann-Burchard and quantitative thin-layer chromatography and use of IR. The procedure involved a preconditioning corms, to proceed to degrease the assigned sample (10 g) by magnetic stirring with the solvent ethyl acetate (1:10 w/ v), then with ethanol macerated at different concentrations, extracts were combined and the solvent evaporated completely in a water bath and finally treated with the solvent butanol ethanol (3: 1 v / v) to be taken to concentrate rotavapor to saponin.
