In order to genotype the resistance mutations to antiretrovirals drugs from a portion of the Reverse Transcriptase (RT) from the Human Immunodeficiency Virus 1 Subtype B (codons 151 to 261), eleven samples coming from the “Committee of Prevention and Control of AIDS” (COPRECOS) were collected from the “Hospital Central Militar” as part of the Project: “Detection of Punctual Mutations in HIV-1 related to resistance to antiretrovirals drugs “. All samples were subjected to amplification by PCR and sequencing trough the Sanger method. Then RT sequences were analyzed using the HIV db Software version 4.1.2. from Stanford University (available online). According to genotyping results of the partial sequence of RT only two samples were found to have punctual primary related to resistance mutations for antiretroviral drugs, the remainder samples showed some mutations that might be compensatory to other mutations abroad of this RT genetic region and also finding some other polimorfisms. This is the first study made in Peru that detects punctual resistance mutations from patients receiving antirretroviral treatment by using genotyping system entirely developed in laboratory.
