-- Currently the population of older adults has been increasing in the country. Also addressing the problems of this group is complex, so it is considered as a risk group for health problems and nutrition caused by a number of factors both physical, social, physiological and socioeconomic factors. It is therefore necessary to know their dietary habits, nutritional status and socioeconomic status and if they are associated with socioeconomic status. Objective: To determine the association of dietary habits, nutritional status, with socioeconomic status (SES) of older adults who attend the Municipal Program of Metropolitan Lima. Material and Methods: Descriptive, cross-sectional association study. A convenience sample was selected consisting of 115 adults over 60 years of both sexes attending the Municipal Program for Older Adults. A survey was about their dietary habits regarding the consumption of food servings recommended, and another to establish socioeconomic status according to the scale of Graffar. Nutritional status was determined according to body mass index (BMI). We conducted a descriptive and inferential analysis with SPSS 18.0. To establish the association of variables, we applied the Chi-square test (X2) with a confidence level of 95%. Results: Older adults were located mainly on the SES half (92%). The prevalence of overweight and obesity was 42.6% and 19.1%. Over 60% of the elderly had inadequate dietary habits regarding meat (65.2%), dairy (78.3%), beans (87.8%), fruits and vegetables (64.3%). Nutritional status was not significantly associated with SES (p = 0.629). Regarding dietary habits, there was a significant association (P <0.05) with SES in the consumption of meat (p=0003), cereals and tubers (p=0038), and fruits and vegetables (p=0001). Conclusion: We showed association between food habits and the SES, but no so for the nutritional status in older adults attending the Municipal Program for Older Adults in Metropolitan Lima.
