-- Anxiety and depresión are common in patients with acute coronary syndromes. With the purpose to evaluate its prevalence we carried out a prospective study in the Cardiology Service of Edgardo Rebagliati Martins Hospital, applying Zung questionnaire for anxiety and depression disorders. Results: We evaluated 57 patients, 71.9% had more than 60 years of age. 57.89% were male, 84.20% had superior or secondary level of instruction. 73.7% were married. We found history of hypertension in 57.89%, obesity in 63.15% y dyslipidemia in 50.87%. More than 2 coronary risk factors was found in 73.3% and more than three in 7%. Anxiety and depression moderate to severe were found in 66.7% and 68.4% respectively. That levels were not related with the clinical variables which were evaluated. (p>0.05) Conclusions: We found higher levels of anxiety and depression in our population with acute coronary syndromes.
