--- OBJECTIVE: Determining the risk factors of the preterm labor in pregnants attended in Instituto Nacional Materno Perinatal, in the period January - June of 2015. METHODOLOGY: Study of type cases and control, quantitative, transverse, retrospective, based in the revision of 150 clinic history of pregnants that presented a preterm labor, only and spontaneous, 300 clinic history of pregnants that presented term labor, only and spontaneous, over the course of January to June of 2015. For both study groups clinic history of pregnant women with complete data were used, the information was processed and analyzed on the basis of the calculation of the Odds Ratio and of the confidence intervals to the 95%. RESULTS: Of the 450 clinic history, the frequency of preterm labors was 33,3 %. The statistically significant risk factors were: The antecedent of highly significant preterm labor (P 0,001) with one OR 8,5 and CI 95 % (5,35 – 13,52), the highly significant infection of urinary tract (P 0,0001) with one OR: 6 and CI 95 % (3,89 – 9,299), the highly significant anemia (P 0,0001) with one OR: 2,26 and CI 95 % (1,5085 – 3,3726) and did not have statistical significance: The maternal age (P 0,4769) with one OR: 1,25 and CI 95 % (0,67 – 2,3218). CONCLUSIONS: The antecedent of preterm labor, the infection of urinary tract, and the anemia is risk factors for the preterm labor. KEYWORDS: Preterm labor, previous preterm labor, anemia, infection of urinary tract, maternal age.
