ABSTRACT This research aimed to determine the influence of steam curing compared to different types of curing on the strength of concrete f'c=280 kg/cm2 modified with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) fibers and steel chips. The study used a quantitative approach, obtaining results through numerical and exact calculations. The sample for this study consisted of 144 concrete briquettes, of which 36 briquettes were modified with steel chips containing 10% by weight of fine aggregate. This modification increased the compressive and shear strength due to certain properties of the steel still present in the chips. Additionally, 36 briquettes were modified with PVC fibers with a 10% volume fraction of fine aggregate. This changed the consistency of the mixture, reduced cracking and drying shrinkage, and increased toughness. In this regard, the compressive strength of the briquettes was evaluated at 07 and 28 days, as these periods are considered to achieve the design strength of the concrete. The compressive strength variation was also evaluated at 50 days to determine the best curing method for each type of concrete. The study concluded that steam curing is the best curing method compared to other methods, significantly increasing the compressive strength of the concrete briquettes. However, this curing method is not applicable to concrete modified with steel chips, as the obtained strength decreases due to steel corrosion. On the other hand, the concrete modified with PVC fibers showed an increase in strength, although it did not surpass the results of the f'c=280 kg/cm2 concrete sample.
