Introduction: Anemia affects more than 1.6 billion people in the world, with iron deficiency being its main cause, although other nutritional and pathological factors also contribute. This condition is associated with significant adverse effects, such as delays in child development and complications during pregnancy. In Latin America, the prevalence of anemia is 22.5% in women of childbearing age and 17.8% in children under five years of age. The objective of the study was to determine the correlation of maternal hematocrit and hemoglobin in the third trimester of gestation with the hematocrit and hemoglobin of the newborn at Adolfo Guevara Velasco Hospital ESSALUD Cusco. Methods: Cross-sectional observational study of mothers and neonates at Adolfo Guevara Velasco Hospital, EsSalud - Cusco, study included pregnant women in the third trimester without previous anemia and with at least six prenatal controls, and full-term newborns without major weight deviations. The sample included 484 individuals (242 mother-newborn pairs). The data were analyzed using SPSS and JASP, applying correlation tests and multivariate analyses. Results: 242 mother-newborn pairs were included. No significant correlation was observed between maternal and neonatal hemoglobin and hematocrit using multivariate analysis. Moderate correlation was found between gestational characteristics and neonatal outcomes such as weight and height, in addition to minor negative correlations between maternal age and neonatal hematological levels. Discussion: Variables such as gestational age and number of prenatal controls showed stable and homogeneous distributions. The lack of significant correlation between maternal and neonatal hematological parameters suggests an independence of these factors in the transmission of hematological characteristics in high altitude (??meters above sea level?). However, significant correlations were observed to validate the internal consistency of the measurements and confirm the influence of gestational age on neonatal development. Conclusion: No statistically significant correlation between maternal and neonatal hemoglobin and hematocrit was found on this study. The results suggest the need for health policies and interventions individualized to the neonate and the mother separately, physiological changes of pregnancy seem to protect the neonate during pregnancy.
