The general objective was to determine design options to improve the capacity of the Cusco - Chinchero Airport Road over a 10-year horizon, taking into account the current and projected values of ATS, PTSF, and density. The following methodology was used: a descriptive quantitative research design with a hypothetical-deductive approach, employing a sequential and probatory non-experimental, cross-sectional design. The data collection instruments included vehicular count formats using video recordings, travel time measurements, and geometric characteristics of the road. The population consisted of vehicles that circulated on the Cusco-Chinchero road from July 7th to July 14th, 2022, and the sample consisted of the largest number of vehicles that circulated in the analysis area for 15 minutes. The conclusion of the study was to design a multi-lane road with an NS "B" for the multi-lane sections I, II, III, and IV, with a density of Do=15.36 vehicles/mile at a free flow speed of 23.4 miles/hour. Furthermore, in the following double-lane sections, it was decided to use an overtaking lane with an ATSd (Acceleration Tangential Simple) of 22.65 miles/hour and a PTSFd (Percentage of Time Spent Following in Detriment) of 57.00%, resulting in a level of service C.
