Introduction: The urinary tract infections (ITU) constitute a public health problem worldwide, because it is the second most common cause of infection in humans, therefore resistant strains are increasing alarmingly throughout the world due to self-medication. The following work aims to identify the risk factors associated with urinary tract infection caused by Enterobacteriaceae that produce extended-spectrum beta-lactamase in patients hospitalized in the Internal Medicine service of the HNAGV – ESSALUD – CUSCO, 2022 – 2023. Method: An observational, retrospective, cross-sectional, case-control study was carried out on the HC of 75 patients diagnosed with UTI. The data collection form was used, the information from their HCs obtaining 25 cases and 50 controls. OR and significant statistical tests were used. Results: Of the 75 patients, of which 25 were cases and 75 controls (1:2) in which 56% of the patients are male and 44% are female. In age, 76% of patients are older adults, 24% of patients are between 18 and 59 years old. Regarding risk factors, male sex makes a statistically significant difference with (OR: 9.340; LI:2.026-LS:43.056); Recurrent UTI shows a statistically significant difference with a (OR: 7.198; LI:1.292-LS:40.114); antibiotic therapy in the last year, a (OR: 4.472; LI:1.0-LS:21.524) is obtained, it loses statistical significance as it is an adjusted OR; previous urological pathology is obtained (OR:0.342; LI:0.019-LS:0.479) being statistically significant considering it as a protection factor. Conclusions: At the Adolfo Guevara Velasco Hospital between 2022 and 2023, the risk factors associated with urinary tract infection caused by extended-spectrum betalactamase-producing Enterobacteriaceae in patients hospitalized in the Internal Medicine service were male sex, recurrent UTI. and as a protective factor, having had a previous urological pathology.
