STUDENTS AT THE ANDEAN UNIVERSITY OF CUSCO, 2021 Our objective was to determine the influence of mental health (anxiety, stress and depression) on the quality of sleep in times of COVID-19 in nursing students, 2021, since the COVID-19 pandemic has generated important changes in the way of living and relating with each other, bringing with it problems inherent to mental health and sleep quality in the entire population and particularly in nursing students in their learning process, being a descriptive and correlational scope of non-experimental design and analytical cross-sectional, with a sample of 239 nursing students, enrolled in the 2021-II semester and with regular attendance, through a virtual survey using the Google Docs application. Sleep quality was assessed using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI); and to assess mental health, the depression, anxiety and stress scale (DASS-21) was used. The frequency of sleep quality, anxiety, stress and depression was estimated; and the potential association of the factors under study through the (OR, [95% CI], p-value). As results, it was found that 81.6% of nursing students at the AUC had poor sleep quality; being more frequent in the age group of 15-19 years (85.4%), in the female sex (83.2%), in those of the 7th and 8th cycle of studies (88.9%), of origin from the periphery of Cusco (89.7% ), single marital status (82.9%), and those who study and work permanently (82.9%). Meanwhile, 61.1%, 38.1% and 52.7% presented anxiety, stress and depression, respectively. Poor sleep quality was associated with anxiety (OR=7.8373, 95% CI [3.6344-16.9004], p=0.00000), stress (OR=17.6321, 95% CI [4.1515-74.8871]. p=0 .00000040) and depression (OR=8.2763, CI95%[3.5107-19.5111]. p=0.00000006). In conclusion, the study found elevated frequencies of anxiety, stress, depression, and poor sleep quality in times of COVID-19; as well as showing that mental health (anxiety, stress and depression) had a high influence on poor sleep quality in times of COVID-19 in nursing students at the Andean University of Cusco during 2021.
