The present thesis had as purpose to add in different percentages with respect to the weight of the cement the fiber of the tuna which has the scientific name Opuntia ficus indica, to analyze the behavior of the concrete added with this nonconventional additive, specifically the resistance to the compression with respect to a concrete elaborated in traditional conditions which had a design of 210 kg / cm2, in addition the influence on the slump, the workability and the variation of the cost against a concrete elaborated in traditional conditions. It is important to mention that the study of this research was carried out by taking samples of concrete, which are described as cylinders or test specimens, which were added with Opuntia Ficus Indica fiber in different percentages (1%, 2%, 3%, 4 %, 5%, 7% and 10%). Based on the results obtained, it was concluded that: The addition of Opuntia ficus indica fiber (Tuna), at a percentage of 3% with respect to the weight of the cement, is good for the concrete strength but can not be considered a natural additive of great impact in the production of the concrete. In the case of the slump did not show significant changes because it remains within the parameters established in the Peruvian Technical Specifications; In the same way the workability did not show variations with respect to a standard concrete and the unitary costs of production with the addition of fiber of Opuntia ficus indica (Tuna) did not vary of significant way, that´s why it was demonstrated that the addition of Opuntia fiber Ficus indica does not contribute significantly to the characteristics of a concrete, leaving the investigation open for possible analyzes with different mix designs or other concrete characteristics.
