Introduction: Pre-professional practice is the last stage of university studies in human medicine and is carried out in a hospital for one year. In this activity, it happens that the student faces a demanding, stressful job, due to the very nature of putting his knowledge into practice, and facing new situations that test his training and highlight his maximum capacity. In such circumstances, many of they may suffer from alterations in sleep quality as well as be affected by a lot of anxiety. The purpose of this study is not only to demonstrate this, but also to correlate these two variables, where one predisposes the appearance of the other and vice versa. Objectives: Establish a relationship between anxiety and sleep quality in pre-professional practice students of the Professional School of Human Medicine of the Andean University of Cusco 2023. Material and methods: This is a descriptive, correlational, cross-sectional study, to relate two variables (anxiety and sleep quality) in pre-professional internship students of Human Medicine, the PSQI Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index was used, and the ISRA Inventory of Anxiety Situations and Responses, these data were analyzed in SPSS version 27, the interpretation was carried out through Spearman's Rho correlation coefficient. Results: The existence of a relationship between the two variables was found using Spearman's Rho 0.335, which demonstrates low correlation with the general objective, but in the specific objectives as well as motor anxiety and sleep quality Spearman's Rho 0.586 moderate correlation, with a p =0.000 significance, in addition, high levels of mild anxiety were found 15.2%, moderate anxiety 25%, severe anxiety 24.1% and extreme anxiety 35.7% and poor sleep quality of 70.5%. Conclusions: There is a relationship between anxiety and sleep quality of pre-professional practice students at the School of Human Medicine; high levels of anxiety and poor sleep quality were also found.
