The present investigation called Application of a Behavior Based Safety Program for the reduction of substandard acts in the workers of the Maintenance Unit of the Andean University of Cusco, headquarters in Cusco, carried out in 2019; its purpose is to make known the theoretical and conceptual foundations, which were later transferred to practice. The mentioned Behavior Based Safety Program (PSBC) is aimed at restoring and increasing safe behaviors, through the reduction of unsafe behaviors, achieving the mitigation of substandard acts. The methodology used for the application of the PSBC was by the author José Luis Meliá Navarro, through which, it was necessary to make a general diagnosis through the Triconditional Theory of Safe Behavior Allow obtaining that 61% of workers can work safely, 57% of workers know how to work safely and 62% of workers want to work safely. Subsequently, carry out the Antecedent, Behavior and Consequent analysis of the List of Key Behaviors, make the comparison of the behaviors of the Initial Baseline and Multiple Baseline and finally intervene through the feedback and the proposed control measures. As a result of the application of the program, it was possible to establish safe action in the workers of the Maintenance Unit. Obtaining 83% of standard acts in Hot Work, 100% of standard acts in Work at Height, 86% of standard acts in Electrical Work and 100% of standard acts in Confined Spaces in December 2019, after the intervention of the PSBC. Compared to 45% of standard acts in Hot Work, 56% of standard acts in Work at Height, 38% of standard acts in Standard Work, 58% of standard acts in Work in Confined Spaces, registered in the month of August 2019 without intervention of the PSBC. Demonstrating the effectiveness of the PSBC, stimulating a proactive and integrated approach to prevention, safety and health at work.
