This research was aimed at determining the physical and mechanical properties of masonry units made with solid waste artisanal brick, sand quarry from Cunyac and Portland cement IP type that meets the parameters established in the E 070 to allow its use as an alternative material construction in the city of Cusco. Masonry units were made with powdered solid waste, this replacing the soil; sand, cement and water .These materials were analyzed for dosing and mixing either by a vibrating table or boqueras type machines and cured by various methods. To carry out this study hollow masonry units percentage of cement were produced to 9% by weight; the percentage of water was calculated from the Modified Proctor test. Determination of weight, dimensional change, warping, compressive strength, compressive strength prisms, modulus of rupture, absorption maximum absorption coefficient saturation, suction and efflorescence: masonry units on these tests as were performed. These tests were conducted on the basis of the rules (NTP 399.605, 2013) (NTP 399.613, 2005) According to the results, the physical and mechanical properties of masonry units of solid waste comply with the parameters established in the E 070 also after a comparison with masonry units fired clay masonry units produced was observed for this study have similar characteristics and properties that the average baked clay bricks produced in the Cusco. Thus, the masonry units qualify as solid waste masonry units of type III, according to E 070 depending on its characteristics of strength and durability.
