The present research study has a main objective that is to determine the “Alteration of the characteristics of salivary physicochemical factors in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy in the National Hospital“ Adolfo Guevara Velasco “EsSalud Cusco - 2018. The type of study is descriptive, cross-sectional and prospective, the total number of patients studied was 31, and representing 100% of the sample, a data collection sheet was prepared as a research instrument, and validated by 03 experts with expert judgment and reliability. Using the Crombach Alpha statistic of 0.799, it was concluded that the alteration of the salivary flow rate in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy is very low in 52%, the salivary pH is acid in 65%. The buffer capacity is low with 58%. The frequency of alteration of salivary physicochemical factors according to age group stands out from 60 to 80 years, which have very low salivary flow with 32%, salivary pH is acidic in 35% and salivary Buffer capacity was low with the 26% means that when age advances salivary alterations are increasing. The frequency of alteration of salivary physicochemical characteristics according to sex was masculine with very low salivary flow with 29%, salivary pH 39% was acidic and salivary Buffer capacity was female patients in 35% low. The frequency of alteration of the characteristics of salivary physicochemical factors according to the stage or degree of the disease, is located in stage III salivary flow is 26% very low, the salivary pH is acid with 32% and salivary Buffer capacity it is low with 32%, it means when the disease progresses the salivary alteration is increasing. Therefore, it is concluded that the alteration of the characteristics of salivary physicochemical factors in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy at the National Hospital “Adolfo Guevara Velasco“ Essalud Cusco is at a greater age of the patient and a greater degree of disease the characteristics of the physicochemical factors salivary are greater.
