Abstract: La investigación tuvo como objetivo general determinar la relación que existe entre la observación de aves y el desarrollo sostenible en las áreas naturales de la provincia de Cañete, en el departamento de Lima. El método empleado fue hipotético deductivo, enfoque cuantitativo, tipo básica, diseño no experimental, nivel descriptivo correlacional y corte transversal. La población estuvo constituida por 62 gestores de las áreas naturales de la provincia de Cañete de los distritos de San Antonio (Humedales de Puerto Viejo), Asia (Proyecto de Lomas de Asia) y Nuevo Imperial (El Bosque de Protección Aledaño a la Bocatoma del Canal Nuevo Imperial), el muestreo fue no probabilístico y por conveniencia. La muestra fue censal, estuvo conformada por los 62 gestores del sector público y privado, el personal de las áreas naturales, los guías de observación de aves y especialistas que están enfocados a esta actividad. Además, la técnica fue la encuesta e instrumento el cuestionario. Se obtuvo como resultado un coeficiente Rho de Spearman = a 0,835, esto significa que existe una correlación positiva muy alta entre las variables “Observación de Aves” y “Desarrollo Sostenible”. En conclusión, la práctica del turismo de observación de aves con miras a la conservación de la diversidad biológica contribuye al desarrollo sostenible en las áreas naturales de la provincia de Cañete. Constituye la primera etapa de una nueva forma de diversificar el turismo de la provincia de Cañete.
The general objective of the research was to determine the relationship between bird watching and sustainable development in the natural areas of the province of Cañete, in the department of Lima. The method used was hypothetical deductive, quantitative approach, basic type, non-experimental design, descriptive correlational level and cross- sectional. The population consisted of 62 managers of the natural areas of the province of Cañete in the districts of San Antonio (Puerto Viejo Wetlands), Asia (Lomas de Asia Project) and Nuevo Imperial (The Protected Forest adjacent to the Nuevo Imperial Canal Intake), the sampling was non-probabilistic and by convenience. The sample was a census sample, made up of 62 managers from the public and private sector, the staff of natural areas, birdwatching guides and specialists who are focused on this activity. In addition, the technique was the survey, and the instrument was the questionnaire. A Spearman's Rho coefficient = 0,835 was obtained as a result, which means that there is a very high positive correlation between the variables “Birdwatching” and “Sustainable Development”. In conclusion, the practice of bird watching tourism for the conservation of biological diversity contributes to sustainable development in the natural areas of the province of Cañete. It constitutes the first stage of a new way to diversify tourism in the province of Cañete.
