This study aims to evaluate the effect of estradiol and GnRH on follicular dynamics, according to the number of follicles, presence of corpora lutea, dominant follicles and cystic follicles in cows of the breed Holstein with the help of an ultrasound monitoring of ovaries. For this, in the research was made a synchronization of follicular dynamics in 29 animals, divided in two treatments. The two treatments for both studies were: T1 (n =16), (day 0): application of 1.2 mg of Estradiol (i.m.), an intravaginal insertion of 1 DIB for 4 days and application of 2 mg PGF2α (i.m.). T2 (n =13), (day 0): application of 3 mg GnRH (i.m.), intravaginal insertion of 1 DIB for 4 days and application of 2 mg PGF2α (i.m.). To analyze follicular dynamics was made an ultrasound examination of the (day 0) before treatment and then the (day 4). The study results allowed to observe the initial follicular status of high producing cows from the barn and also demonstrated that treatment T1 with Estradiol, the emergence of a new follicular wave obtained a new group average (10.4), and follicles smaller than 8mm in diameter. However, the treatment with GnRH T2 resulted in the follicular emergence of a lesser number (6.9) of follicles, lesser than 8 mm and statistically different (p <0.05) compared from the other group treated with estradiol/progesterone. Also the number of follicles 2 to 4 mm in diameter recruited with the treatment T1 Estradiol (8.1) was higher than treatment T2 GnRH (4.2), with a statistically significant difference (P <0.05). So in the presence of corpora lutea after treatment, better reduction of 29% was obtained in the group of cows hormonally treated with GnRH; In the presence of dominant follicles after treatment, estradiol obtained a higher reduction of 50%. Finally the treatment of follicular wave synchronization based in estradiol and GnRH, also of produce an adequate follicular synchronization emergence, it allowed to correct in 57% (4/7) of cases the presence of follicular cyst.
