Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is a basic crop for Ecuador, so it is important to increase production and to achieve this it is necessary to reduce the damage caused by a series of factors that cause low yields and among them the salinization of soils dedicated to cultivation. The objective of this study was to identify advanced lines of rice with tolerance to salts, in segregating populations derived from interspecific crosses between Oryza sativa L. ssp. japonica x Oryza rufipogon G. and of japonica-type line crosses, as an alternative for the sustainable management of soils degraded by salinity. The research includes: the characterization of the rice production units, with different levels of salinization of the soils, in the San Jacinto de Yaguachi area, Guayas province and CEDEGE, Guayas province (Ecuador). Through information collected in a structured survey with 39 questions; the determination of the general sustainability index (ISGen), calculated using the data of the indicators: economic (IK), ecological (IE) and sociocultural (ISC) and the determination of the effect of three levels of salinity: control (normal water), 3.5 dS / m (medium salinity level) and 7.0 dS / m (high salinity level) in the phenological phases, agronomic components and performance under greenhouse and field conditions with the rice genetic material selected for this composite study of referential witnesses and advanced lines developed through interspecific crosses of the genus Oryza. The information was processed using the analysis of relative variability (%) and other morphological and performance characteristics. The ISGen for Yaguachi and CEDEGE was 1.92 and 2.12, respectively. The salinity level of 7.0 dS / m was very damaging, affecting several evaluated characteristics. In addition, it had negative effects on the phenological phases of the crop such as germination, seedling, tillering, and stem and flowering growth. In the selection of genotypes, two advanced lines Puyón / JP003 P11-103115 and Puyón / JP003 P11-106716 were identified, with better yields under salinity conditions, surpassing the commercial control (SFL-011).
