The main objective of this research was to evaluate the sustainability of agricultural systems in the area of influence of the Project Carrizal-Chone Irrigation, Stage I, in the province of Manabí, Ecuador. The characterization was based on the delimitation of the study area and to obtain information recommended by the FAO methodology is "Participatory technology development" (DTP), which allowed us to interactive participation with those directly involved through applied surveys, lectures and workshops. The zoning of the agrosilvopastoral systems, ALOS satellite image of 10 meter resolution obtained in Ecuador Military Geographical Institute (IGM) and the Geographic Information System (GIS) was used. Once analyzed and processed information coverage maps and land use and pending in percentage was determined, finally getting a map of the areas of agrosilvopastoral systems in the project area Carrizal-Chone irrigation reservoir La Esperanza. The assessment of the sustainability MESMIS used, supplemented as proposed by Sepulveda (2008), Harness (2011) and aluminum Astier guidelines (2002); to facilitate analysis of the multiple dimensions of evaluation, indicators were standardized on a scale of 0-5, with 5 being the highest and 0 the lowest related to sustainability. It was possible to determine the production systems and the quality of life for families immersed in the project, viewing from an environmental, social, economic and weak community organization. According Cluster analysis, three groups of agricultural farms is determined, one of them, the largest, representing agroforestry systems with 77 percent It was determined that the areas intended for agro-silvopastoral systems, corresponded to 1 413 ha slope goes from 6 to 11 percent. Finally, the sustainability of the system, came in unstable with a standardized rate averaged 2.14.
