This research was carried out at the Instituto Regional de Desarrollo de Sierra (IRD-Sierra) of the Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina located in the town of San Juan de Yanamuclo, Jauja province, Junín región; with the aim of characterize 11 ecotypes and 2 varieties of tarwi (Lupinus mutabilis Sweet) from the Andean zone and evaluate the yield of grain and its components under conditions of Jauja - Junín. The genetic material comes from the germplasm of the Programa de Investigación de Leguminosas de Grano y Oleaginosas de la Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina (UNALM) and the Universidad Nacional del Altiplano, Puno (UNAP). The sowing of the experiment was carried out in October 2014. The statistical design used was Randomized Complete Block Design with 13 treatments and three repetitions in a 6.4 m2 plot experimental unit. The evaluated variables were groupedinto qualitative/quantitative characterization of the ecotypes, the performance variables and their components. Statistical significance was found for the yield and its components: number of full pods, number of grains per pod and weight of one hundred seeds. The ecotype 03-10-214 produced the highest yield with 1376 kg/ha due to its high yield components (63 full pods, 4.8 grains per pod and a weight of one hundred seeds of 20.67 g), followed by the ecotype Cuzco 2, Cholo Fuerte, Cuzco 1 and variety Yunguyo that exceeded the average performance of the experiment, while the control produced 869 kg/ha. The Altagracia and Patón Grande ecotypes were late ecotypes that presented longer days to flowering and daysto harvest maturity, and the 03-10-214 ecotype was the earliest ecotype in the experiment.
