The use of inputs for certified organic production must be in accordance with the organic regulations to which it is being applied, therefore it is necessary to have a broad knowledge of the requirements for organic crop production and the regulations for the use of substances that can be used for soil and plant nutrition, as well as for pest and disease management. Among the main input use regulations for the most frequent export destinations are the EU Regulation and USDA NOP, both of which have their own provisions. This paper seeks to bring together in a didactic way the requirements for the use of inputs for these regulations, based on the problems at the time of the declaration of inputs by operators who apply for or are already in the process of organic certification. It is therefore suggested to promote the development of best practices in the management of certified organic crops and thus reduce common mistakes when applying for organic certification.
