The tropical seasonally dry forest (TSDF) is an ecosystem with great biological diversity in a small area, which provides several benefits, but is highly threatened and less studied. Different studies have shown that considering the local people perspective to identify the value and importance of natural resources is essential in the creation of conservation and sustainable development alternatives. With a non-monetary data collection technique, information was collected from 290 stakeholders from eight communities near the TSDF in northern Peru and southern Ecuador, using semi-structured surveys (197 interviews) and focus group (111 participant) with the free listing and pebble distribution method, a total of 27 ecosystem services (ES) were identified, of which 14 are in the Provisioning category (45.7%), five in Cultural (37.9%), seven in Regulation (14.7% ), and one in Support (0.7%). The ES with the highest Smith prominence index (S), the highest percentage of use and valuation were mainly: Wood for construction, Fodder and Fuel (firewood), Medicinal plants, Honey, and Climate Regulation, which are meet daily needs. It was determined that, within the socioeconomic variables and other aspects, being a migrant, head of household, primary and secondary educational level, medium-income households, livestock farmer, sale construction wood and other products, and the time it takes to reach the forest, influence the obtaining of higher or lower indices of cultural prominence. Several ecosystem services could be identified thanks to the free listing method and could be complemented with the pebble distribution method to ratings. This research shows that the cultural meaning and ecosystem services identified are similar for all rural communities near the same tropical seasonally dry forest.
