Objective:to determine the level of knowledge and its relationship with preventive attitudes towards type 2 diabetes mellitus in patients treated at the CMI México in 2024. Materials and Methods: quantitative approach, non-experimental design, and cross-sectional, with descriptive and correlational scope. The population and sample consisted of 114 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus from the CMI México. Two validated questionnaires were used to measure knowledge and preventive attitudes. Results: 65.8% have a medium level of knowledge, 25.4% high, and 8.8% low. By dimensions: regarding the disease, 56.1% have a medium level, 35.1% high, and 8.8% low; regarding medications, 48.2% medium, 38.6% low, and 13.2% high; regarding nutrition, 68.4% medium, 17.5% high, and 14.0% low; regarding foot care, 61.4% medium, 19.3% high, and 19.3% low; regarding complications, 63.2% medium, 21.9% low, and 14.9% high. In preventive attitude, 54.4% have a moderately favorable attitude, 33.3% favorable, and 12.3% unfavorable. In the biological dimension, 57.9% have a moderately favorable attitude, 27.2% favorable, and 14.9% unfavorable. In the psycho-affective dimension, 56.1% have a moderately favorable attitude, 25.4% unfavorable, and 18.4% favorable.
