Objective: to carry out a study of over-the-counter dispensing of antimicrobials in simulated patients in pharmaceutical offices in the district of Chiclayo - Lambayeque, july 2023. Method: the study was quantitative, non-experimental, descriptive-correlational and cross-sectional. The population consisted of 643 pharmaceutical establishments and the sample of 70 authorized establishments; the collection instrument was a questionnaire filled out by the simulated patient. Data processing was performed using Excel 2016 and SPSS 27 software. Results: regarding the dimension factors associated with the dispensing staff, the results evidenced that 34.8% are male and 65.2% are female, 94% of the pharmaceutical staff dispensed the antimicrobials without prescription, likewise, the most sold drugs were Ciprofloxacin (31.7%), Doxycycline (7.4%). Conclusions: the study shows that the dispensing of antimicrobials without medical prescription occurs in the pharmaceutical offices of Chiclayo, the dispensing of antimicrobials without medical prescription is linked to the inadequate behavior of patients because they demand to be attended despite not having medical prescription, likewise, certain pharmaceutical offices do not request them either.
