Objective: to determine the food safety and food poisoning knowledge, attitudes and practices of food vendors in the main avenues of the district of San Martin de Porres, march 2023. Materials and methods: an observational, cross-sectional study design was conducted among 200 randomly selected food vendors. Data were collected through face-to-face interviews. Only fully completed questionnaires were considered for analysis. Data analysis was performed in SPSS version 23.0. Descriptive statistics were performed. A probability of less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: it was found that 73.5% of the food vendors surveyed had a low level of knowledge of food safety and food poisoning. Meanwhile, 78.5% had a positive attitude and 21.5% had an acceptable attitude. At the same time, 61.0% of the food vendors showed safe practices. Conclusions: the overall findings of this study indicated that food vendors had poor knowledge. However, attitudes and practices regarding food safety and food poisoning were good.
