This research was born after participating in the International Congress of Specialization on Translation and Interpreting and the International Course of Specialization on Mining Translation and Interpreting – both organized in Peru for the 1st time. During these events, we learnt a lot about others lectures experiences and all the knowledge they shared with us. At that time, the desire of getting involved in the mining translation and interpreting area emerged. The opportunity of making contact with other participants and receiving occasional translation projects in this field also increased the desire of making a further study about this translation and interpreting area. Thus, it was necessary to make a research about this unexplored area of translation and interpreting, but covering everything, at the same time, was going to be impossible. Therefore, covering aspects related to supply and demand were a good start point, in order to find out the scope of the supply and demand in mining translation and interpreting in Peru. We must clarify, that this research is not pretending to study the individual behavior of the market for a specific year, but to analyze the general behavior over the last years. The aim of this research is to find out whether people who provide translation and interpreting services are professionals or empirical, the type of translatological work they do and the chances they have in order to get further specialization on this area. At the same time, this research aims to discover and describe in details the supply requirements for translation and interpreting services.
