Burnout is a recurring syndrome in health personnel, which begins with stress, generating an internal and chronic imbalance in the face of stressful factors in the work or academic environment. The general objective of this research was to determine the level of Burnout according to its dimensions in pre-professional boarding students at the medical school of a private university in Chiclayo, 2022; while it was specifically established to identify if there are differences in the level of Burnout according to sex, as well as to identify the level of Burnout according to professional career. For its development, a non-experimental basic research design with a descriptive-comparative scope was taken into account. Likewise, we worked with a population of 108 students of both sexes belonging to the professional careers of Dentistry, Psychology, Medicine and Nursing, who in turn are carrying out pre-professional practices. To achieve this, the Maslach Burnout Inventory – Universidad Ricardo Palma Student Survey (MBI-URPMSS) instrument was used. The results obtained were: a high level of Emotional Exhaustion, a low level of Academic Efficacy and medium and low levels of Cynicism; a prevalence in women compared to men; and a high level of Burnout in both Medicine and Nursing, a medium level in Psychology and a low level in Dentistry. It is concluded that the predominant dimension is Emotional Exhaustion, while Burnout prevails in women; and the career with the highest levels of Burnout is Medicine.
