The Dark Triad of personality represents a set of aversive behaviors (psychopathy, narcissism, and Machiavellianism) that can impact the dynamics in romantic relationships, potentially leading to psychological abuse. Therefore, this research aimed to determine the relationship between the Dark Triad of personality and the components of love among students at a private university in Chiclayo. The study employed a non-experimental design within a descriptive correlational approach. The sample was non-probabilistic and intentional, consisting of 150 university students from the Schools of Business Administration, Law, and Psychology. After applying the established criteria, the final sample consisted of 128 participants of both sexes (67.2% were women), aged between 18 and 25 years (M=19.8; SD=1.56). The Short Dark Triad and the Sternberg's Triangular Love Scale, both adapted to the Peruvian context, were used as instruments. The results showed a significant negative relationship between the Dark Triad and intimacy, commitment, and passion in romantic relationships. Thus, it can be concluded that a higher level of the Dark Triad traits is associated with lower levels of intimacy, commitment, and passion in romantic relationships.
