The aging process causes the progressive loss of certain functional capacities when over80 years of age, predisposing the appearance of diseases that impact the family economy due to increased health costs. Therefore, the objective of this study was to determine the functional physical condition of older adults residing in communities surrounding a private university in Chiclayo 2023. The research was quantitative, with a non- experimental, transversal and descriptive design. The sample was census, made up of 73older adults, to whom an observationguide was applied, called the Senior Fitness Test (SFT), validated by test-retest with 0.97 and internal consistency was obtained by Kuder Richardson with 0.87. Belmont ethical principles were considered. It was evident that 90.4% of participants did not have functional physical condition; and it was demonstrated that it was women who obtained the highest rates regardingnon compliance with the following dimensions: upper body strength (82.2%), aerobic resistance (80.8%), physical agility (78.1%), and upper body flexibility (82.2%). Such events are probably due to a lack of motivation to exercise, possibly resulting in a decrease in autonomy in activities of daily living
