The purpose of the study was to implement a behavior based safety program (SBC) to reduce accident rates in an agroindustrial company, in the district of Olmos, province of Lambayeque; proceeding to diagnose the behavioral situation of the company's production personnel in the last two years, develop the SBC program to reduce accident rates and, after its implementation, evaluate its reduction. The study was carried out from January to June 2024 with a sample of 127 workers, through diagnosis, pretest, implementation of the SBC program and posttest. To evaluate the behaviors, the observation booklet was applied in pretest, implementation and posttest, as well as feedback and positive reinforcement. In the behavioral diagnosis, in the production department it was found that 82.61% of the accidents were due to unsafe acts and 17.39% to unsafe conditions. In the pretest, 87.53% safe behaviors and 12.47% unsafe behaviors were observed. Prior to the implementation of the SBC program, it was taken to improve the unsafe conditions found. Through the development of the SBC program in the company's production department, unsafe behaviors were reduced to 0.67%, representing a reduction of 94.6%. The cumulative frequency index was reduced from 8.77 to 3.67, representing a 58.15% reduction. The cumulative severity index was reduced from 127.19 to 43.25, representing a reduction of 66.0%. Therefore, the accident rate was reduced from 5.58 to 0.79, representing a reduction of 85.84%.
