In Peru, financial education is considered an essential pillar because it allows merchants to access formal financing and achieve better economic and financial opportunities, since, by having a solid training, they will understand the terms and conditions of financing, facilitating decision making. This research focused on the lack of financial education, which has led merchants at the Balta Fair to opt for informal financing, that is, through loan sharks and boards. The general objective was to determine whether financial education allows computer accessories merchants at the Balta Fair in the Chiclayo district to enter formal financing in 2023. The study methodology used was qualitative, applied and descriptive level, in turn, a non-experimental cross-sectional design. Likewise, the population subject to study and the sample consists of 150 and 97 merchants respectively, therefore, survey and documentary analysis techniques were used. Finally, it was found that 30.9% and 51.9% of merchants have a zero and low level of financial education, respectively, with only 17.6% showing a high level, which indicates that there is much to improve, given that 82.8% reflect deficiencies in their financing decisions. In addition, it was determined that financial education allows for the insertion of formal financing, since it educates merchants and offers a new perspective on financial entities, having greater opportunities for growth.
