Obstetric emergencies profile attended at the San Ignacio Health Center - Cajamarca, June 2021 - May 2022 Obstetric emergencies are a priority in maternal health and are a fundamental pillar in the obstetrician's academic training that allows him/her to face with scientific and technical knowledge the cases present at different levels of care and in circumstances of obstetric practice. The objective of the research was to determine the profile of obstetric emergencies referred from the San Ignacio-Cajamarca Health Center, June 2021-May 2022. It is a basic research, with a non-experimental quantitative, simple descriptive and cross-sectional design; the population consisted of 116 clinical histories of obstetric emergencies patients. Documentary analysis technique was used to collect data on the subject and a data collection form was used as an instrument. Results: The sociodemographic characteristics of the patients with obstetric emergencies referred from the San Ignacio-Cajamarca Health Center were as follows: 58.6 % were between 20 and 34 years old; 45.7 % had a high school education; 61.2 % were married/cohabiting; and 58.6 % were from the urban area. The obstetric emergencies presented the following obstetric profile: 40.5% had only one pregnancy, 60.3% had one to two living children; furthermore, 21.7% of the women reached term without receiving any prenatal care. The obstetric emergencies referred from the San Ignacio-Cajamarca health center had the following profile: the highest number, 56.9%, occurred in the third trimester (premature rupture of membranes; preeclampsia; acute fetal distress; anomalous fetal presentation; cephalo-pelvic disproportion; multiple pregnancy); followed by 25.0% in the first trimester (abortion; ectopic pregnancy); and 6.0% in the second trimester (placenta previa). The 12.1 % of the complications occurred in the immediate puerperium (postpartum hemorrhage). The 69.8% of obstetric emergencies referred from the San Ignacio-Cajamarca Health Center occur at home and are transferred to the health facility by private vehicle. In conclusion: the profile of obstetric emergencies is determined by the admission diagnosis and the complications that determine the referrals, which occur in the age group 20-34 years, mostly after 28 weeks of gestation, with a high prevalence of pregnancies without prenatal care, which are complicated at home and arrive at the health facility by their own means in private vehicles.
