The present study has the aim to know the management of the solid hospital waste handling as a strategy to implement appropriate management, in compliance with current regulations. The method applied is quantitative, no experimental of transactional type and descriptive analysis; the sample is the Health Center of Morales, including its services offered. The technique for collecting information is the observation sheet. The results obtained in this study are: in the stage of preparation of the hospital waste handling has the condition of acceptable; meanwhile in the stages of separation and storage, intermediate storage, internal transportation, final disposal, treatment of solid waste and external collection have very poor conditions. Therefore, of the seven stages forming the handling of solid hospital waste only one step has the condition of acceptable; meanwhile, the other stages have very poor conditions; reaching only 14 per cent of completion, there is a wide gap to improve of 86 per cent. The main conclusions of the management of the solid hospital waste handling in the Health Center of Morales are: it is framed in the evaluation of each step that forms the handling of solid hospital waste, identifying six critical steps that impede the efficient development of the processes of the solid hospital waste handling, impacting negatively to the environment which is detrimental to the health of external and internal users of the institution; affecting also the ornament of the city. Furthermore, the stages with very poor conditions; they are entailed in three themes: First the management direction where there is poor logistic to supply suitable materials to enhance stages of solid waste handling and minimize working accidents in the responsible personnel. Second, related to the capacity and skills of human resources in charge of the solid hospital waste handling, which is poor in the direction, performance and support of whom have not built systematically rules yet; finally, the health staff has a weak culture of solid waste handling, where their routine care activities are not linked to the missing regulations. They need to institutionalize the management of the solid waste handling.
