The thesis work called "Study Of Soil Mechanics With The Purpose Of Determining The Type Of Pavement To Be Used In The Perimeter Of The Main Square Of The City Of San Rafael - San Rafael District - Bellavista Province - San Martin Region", was carried out in the Professional Academic School of Civil Engineering of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the National University of San Martin - Tarapoto. The purpose of this thesis was to carry out the study of soil mechanics of the perimeter of the main square of the San Rafael district - province of Bellavista - San Martin region, in order to develop the design of the pavement according to the obtained results Preliminary studies were carried out in field, such a traffic study, air excavations, from which own parameters of the soils were extracted of the study zone, together with the results of the tests carried out in the laboratory of soils of the National University of San Martin; afterwards in office, design calculations were made following the parameters of the National Building Regulations, determining the mechanical characteristics of the soils and subsequently the type and design of the pavement that would guarantee the easy and optimal transit of light and heavy vehicles. As conclusion it was recommended to use a rigid pavement, with a structure of 15cm of concrete slab and 20cm of sub-base, for being safer and conservative.
