The objective of the study was to "Determine comparatively the use of misoprostol and oxytocin in cervical maturation and induction of labor in patients attended at the Obstetrics Service of the Hospital MINSA 11-2 Tarapoto, June-November 2016", a quantitative study, descriptivo, retrospectivo, transversal. The population and sample was 120 pregnant women, the technique was documentary revisión and the instrument data collection tab. Results: Patients were characterized by being between 20 and 24 years oíd, living together, having secondary education, coming from urban areas, being primigravida and from pregnancy to term in higher percentage. The cervical assessment was: 47.5% zero dilation, 26.7% complete effacement, 49.2% C- 3 station, 61.7% soft consistency, 75.8% central position, Bishop at baseline. The complications were: Taquisistolia, 72.4% misoprostol and 27.6% oxytocin; hypertonia, 60.3% oxytocin and 39.7% misoprostol: uterine hyperstimulation, 52.2% misoprostol and 47.8% oxytocin. Side effects, none 54.5% misoprostol and 45.5% oxytocin; vomiting 66.7% oxytocin and 33.3% misoprostol; fever, 50.0% with misoprostol as oxytocin; chills 0% with misoprostol and 100% with oxytocin. In conclusión: misoprostol is the drug of cholee because it has fewer complications and side effects, reached Bishop 6 in 0 to 6 hours, delivery was vaginal, labor time from 8:05 h to 16 hours; however the APGAR was 6 to 1 'and APGAR 8 to 5'.
