The objective of this study was "To determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and the practice of biosafety measures of the nursing professional in the Medicine and Surgery Services at II - 2 MINSA Tarapoto Hospital period July - December 2017", study of type no, quantitative, prospective, descriptive, correlational, population and sample was 22 nurses. The technique was the survey and the observation and as instruments the questionnaire and the observation guide or check sheet were used. The results were, the level of global knowledge of biosafety measures by the nursing professionals was of medium level with 45%, followed by a low level with 27.5% and high with 27.5%. According to dimensions, the level of knowledge in biosecurity measures was: safe environment reached a high level with 55%; biological, chemical and radioactive safety, an average level of 55% was obtained; Discard of blood, components and tissues reached high with 45% and for general norms the average level prevailed with 45%. The level of global practice of biosafety measures by nursing professionals was of an adequate level with 55%, followed by a regular level of 36% and inadequate with 9%. According to dimensions, the level of practices in biosecurity measures for preventive measures or universal precautions reached a regular level with 45%; for dimension cleaning and disinfection of materials and equipment a medium level with 55%; waste management and disposal was adequate with 50% and for occupational exposure the appropriate level predominated with 55%. In conclusion there is a relationship between the level of knowledge and the practice of biosecurity measures, there is a significant correlation because the P value (Sig. (Unilateral)) is <a 0.05, that is, "0.000; where the coefficient "r" of Pearson equal to 0.712, determines the existence of an average positive correlation, therefore the determining coefficient indicates that there is a relation of 50.69%, which indicates that the practice of personnel biosecurity measures Nursing is affected by the deficiencies that exist in knowledge.
