This research entitled: Improvement of the drinking water system in the town of Yantalo, province of Moyobamba, San Martin region, was carried out at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the National University of San Martin. Accessibility to drinking water is essential for a healthy life, however, many people nowadays do not have access to drinking water, and also live in homes without sanitation services, sewage is thrown directly into the environment, and defecation in the same way, constituting a source of contamination to water sources, and causing diseases of different kinds. The fact of not having access to a drinking water system increases the possibility of acquiring waterborne diseases, especially in children under 5 years of age, these problems focused on water quality, generate the emergence and spread of infectious diseases, acute diarrheal diseases EDAs, malnutrition, etc., thus, the present research project aims to solve these problems starting with an analysis of the sanitation conditions and availability of the water supply in the town of Yantaló. The supply is done through subway sources (springs and dispersed seepage) and surface sources, counting with a total of three (03) sources, which are located in Morro 1, Morro 2 and Morro de Calzada, as a source of water suitable for human consumption, for the hydraulic design of a drinking water supply system with treatment, according to the results obtained from the physical, chemical and bacteriological analysis of the source water. For the hydraulic design of the drinking water supply system, hydraulic calculations were made, establishing as a fixed parameter the number of inhabitants to whom the service will be provided, determining the approximate flow required by the town of Yantaló and thus, be able to meet the domestic needs of these populations. Finally, the system was simulated with the waterCad program in order to verify its operation and obtain more satisfactory results.
