Competitiveness has become a permanent challenge and public policy for the world and Peru, being necessary to guide it towards achieving better conditions of life for the population. The San Martin region has not been able to overcome the tenth position, the performance in education and employment is not encouraging. The objective was to determine the existing relationship between competitiveness with education and employment in the San Martin region observed during the period 2012 - 2018. The hypothesis demonstrated was: There is a direct relationship between competitiveness with education and employment in the San Martin region observed during the period 2012 - 2018. It was an applied research, and the level of correlation was correlational. The non-experimental - longitudinal tendential design was used. The mathematical - inferential method was used. It is concluded that: The contribution of the education performance index to the competitiveness index was 7.53% for the year 2012, and 4.67% for the year 2018. Similarly, the labor performance index contributed 6.63% to the competitiveness index of the region in 2012 and 7.00% in 2018. There is a positive relationship between the competitiveness index of the San Martin region with education and employment, reflected in a correlation coefficient of 0.5639, representing an average positive correlation between the regional competitiveness index of the San Martin region and the coefficients of performance in education and performance in employment.
