The objective of the study was to "Determine the relationship between the attitude of the couple with the decision of the use of a contraceptive method in immediate puerperal attended in the II - 2 Tarapoto Hospital, February - July 2017", the following is a non-experimental, quantitative, descriptive study, Correlational, transversal, population and sample were 150 immediate puerperal of normal delivery attended in II - 2 Tarapoto Hospital. The technique was the survey and as an instrument were the questionnaires addressed to the puerperal and her partner. The results, the immediate postpartum women are characterized by being between 21 - 30 years old, secondary education degree 52.0%; 74.7% housewife occupation and 53.3% cohabiting civil status. Couples have similar characteristics: predominant age between 21 - 30 years 46.7%; secondary education level 54.7% and employed occupation 56.0%. Regarding the time of coexistence, 30.7% coexist between 7 - 10 years, and regarding the number of children, the most predominant are between 2 - 3 children (40.0%). Regarding the attitude of the couple according to the level of knowledge, actions and opinions on contraceptive methods, we found that 41.3% have a low level of knowledge, 97.3% have positive actions, and 88.0% have a favorable opinion. However, 50.7% have an unfavorable attitude. 56.0% of the immediate postpartum women decided to use some method of contraception and 44.0% did not. The immediate puerperal women treated at II-2 Tarapoto Hospital, decided to use injectable as a contraceptive method in a greater proportion (32 cases), as well as implant and tubal ligation (24 cases) respectively, Pearson's chi2 throws a level of significance p-value = 0.766 (p value> 0.05), there is no relationship between the attitude of the couple and the decision to use the contraceptive method. In conclusion, there is a statistically significant relationship between the couple's decision to use some contraceptive method and the attitude levels, observing that if there is a relationship between both variables (p value <0.05)
