Most of the fish farms of the area do not include or contain a pre-treatment for the reduction of pollutants (BOD5 and suspended solids) present in the effluents emitted after use. This research was carried out in the Soritor district, in the El Bado sector, and its objective is to evaluate the primary process to reduce the biochemical oxygen demand and suspended solids of wastewater in the Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus Linnaeus) farm. Methods such as sampling and the execution of analysis and assays were used, as well as the jar test methodology using the R-Cheminal equipment. The optimal test results showed values of: BOD5 17 mg/L, dissolved oxygen >4 mg/L, pH value slightly acidic, between values of 6.2 and 6.8, suspended solids 10 mg/L. It was concluded that the primary process achieved good results, decreasing up to 77% the amount of suspended solids and 93.2% the amount of biochemical oxygen demand, considering the optimal dose of 0.5% of aluminum sulfate and 150 rpm fast mixing and 37.5 rpm slow mixing.
