The main purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the virtual platform and the type of online purchase among administration students of the Universidad Nacional de San Martín - Tarapoto, 2020. For this purpose, methodological aspects of applied type with non-experimental and transversal design of descriptive-correlational scope were used, in addition, a sample of 173 students was taken, to whom a survey was applied by means of the questionnaire instrument. The main findings indicated that the most frequently used platforms were Mercado Libre, Facebook Marketplace and Wish according to 22,8%, 21,4% and 20,6% of respondents respectively, while 77,3% and 76,8% indicated that the most recurrent type of purchases are varied searches and discarding differences. On the other hand, it was possible to confirm the existence of a significant relationship between virtual platforms and each of the types of purchases under study, which are complex purchases, discarding differences, habitual, varied and impulsive searches, since a significance of 0,000 was found in all correspondence analysis tests. Finally, also by using the statistical test, it was concluded to accept the research hypothesis where it was indicated that there is a significant relationship between the virtual platform and the type of online purchase in management students of the National University of San Martin - Tarapoto, 2020.
