Objective: To know the clinical-epidemiological characteristics of abdominal trauma in patients treated in the surgery department of the MINSA II-2 Tarapoto hospital, during the period January-December 2018. Methodology: The level of research is descriptive. A total of 50 medical records that met the inclusion criteria were reviewed. Results: It was found that 68% of patients were men, with a male-female ratio of 2.1-1. The highest incidence, according to age was between 20 and 39 years, with 48%, and the place of origin that registered the most was Tarapoto, with 24%. No morbidity was recorded in 64% of cases, of the associated morbidities, diabetes mellitus presented 24%. Closed abdominal trauma was 76% and 24% open, being the most frequent cause due to high falls with 34%. Of the affected organs, the spleen was the most frequent for abdominal trauma, with 66%. The surgical indication was 40% for closed abdominal trauma and 22% for open abdominal trauma. The average length of hospital stay was 8.34 days and 78% of patients were discharged. Conclusions: The population of Tarapoto, between 20 and 39 years old, was the most affected by abdominal trauma, being the fall of height the main causative agent, most of them were surgical management, they involved a high hospital stay, but with a recovery mostly favorable.
