The objective of this research study was to "Determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and the use of contraceptive methods in adolescents of the 4th and 5th year of secondary education at the Abilia Ocampo Educational Institution - Rioja, 2018", the following is a non-experimental, quantitative, transversal, correlational research. The population and sample consisted of 125 adolescents of the 4th and 5th year of high school of both sexes of the I.E. Abilia Ocampo. The method used was the survey and the instrument was a questionnaire. Results, 67.3% of adolescents in the 4th and 5th years of secondary education have a good level of knowledge (10 to 13) with a negative tendency to regulate by 23.9%. According to the measures of central tendency, arithmetic mean and dispersion measures, they reached an average of 10.47 points with a standard deviation of 1,933 points, placing them at the level of good knowledge; the minimum value reached was 5 and the maximum value of 14 points. According to contraceptive methods, 64.1% of adolescents do not use any method of contraception. The methods most used by students were condoms (77.8%) and pills (15.6%). In conclusion, there is no relationship in the variables knowledge and use of contraceptive methods non-parametric test Χ² = 4,652 and a value p = 0,199, p> to 0, 05.
