The present thesis consists of the elaboration of a project proposal, with the general objective of analysing informal trade and determining architectural design criteria for the proposal of a retail market in the city of Bellavista, San Martin Region; non-experimental research, correlational level, simple descriptive design, with a population of 20,146 inhabitants and a sample of 376 beneficiaries in the city of Bellavista, applying techniques such as direct observation in the study area, surveys, collection of information from related institutions and analysing the PDU of Bellavista. It is concluded that the Project has focused on the development of a market that not only complies with an optimal functioning, that guarantees that the commercial activity is developed in an orderly and fluid way, but that at the same time the market is a place of meeting and interaction of the population. The research was based on the analysis of different sources of information such as visits to local markets, the analysis of international references, the reading of manuals, sources that have been contrasted with the reality of the location and that have provided the theoretical and quantitative framework for the proposal. The design criteria are defined by the intention to merge functionality with the idea of congregation and interrelation of the population in the project, for this reason it was sought to generate spaces that meet the needs of consumers and at the same time encourage interaction between users. The proposal for the retail market projected to the year 2028 is designed on two levels, having wet, semi-wet and dry areas, premises by first, second and third categories, parking areas, general services, green areas, passive recreation plaza; and the second level with a food court, stalls, premises by category, services and administration; with a total of 158 stalls and a total capacity of 592 people.
